The other day I took a trip to Ulta with my friend and I stumbled upon Mario Badescu’s section. I didn’t know much about his products except that people have been raving about what they use in their everyday skin care regime. I found the “50th Anniversary Edition” kit that contains all the well-known skin care essentials. I never looked into the prices of Mario Badescu’s products, but to my surprise, they’re pretty affordable! Since it contained five products for $38, I purchased one and tested it out that night. Another plus for this brand is that they do not test on animals! Here’s what I thought about the kit.
The kit contains the Enzyme Cleansing Gel, Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, Drying Lotion, Silver Powder, and the Flower & Tonic Mask.
First Step : Enzyme Cleansing Gel
I had a full face of makeup on so I wanted to test out how well this face cleanser worked on removing my makeup. I took a bit of product in my hand and massaged it all over my damp face. After I washed it off, I took a cotton round and brushed it across my skin to see if there was any excess makeup, and to my surprise, there was none! This cleansing gel passed the test 🙂 It is a non-foaming cleanser but it left my skin feeling hydrated and clean!
Step Two : Silver Powder
Next I tried the powder that unclogs pores and prevent blackheads. The instructions tell you to dip a damp cotton ball into the powder and press it onto your nose/any other congested part on your face. I suggest you do this over the sink because there can be some fallout from the cotton ball. I wasn’t sure if I was using too much, so I just let it sit for the required 10 minutes, and then used my Garnier Micellar Water to gently wipe it off. I could never fully clear my skin of blackheads, but after one use of this powder, I could definitely see a decrease in blackheads and pore size! I highly recommend this product!
Step Three : Flower & Tonic Mask
This mask was incredibly soothing! I applied a thin layer on to my face and after a few minutes it dried and tightened. It smelled like flowers and had a silky texture. When the mask dried out, it really felt like it was doing its job. I loved that this mask is meant to calm redness and purify the skin, which was proved to be true. My skin was not irritated by this mask, which is a huge plus.
Step Four : Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
After I took off the mask, I pat my skin dry and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I went in with the spray to give my skin the final touches. The spray leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed. The scent is lovely and not too overpowering. I can’t wait to try it on my hair (as suggested on the bottle) or during the winter when my skin starts to become more dry. Updates to come.
Step Five : Drying Lotion
After a few hours hanging out with friends, I put on the Drying Lotion. I’ve heard a lot of awesome things about this product so I was excited to give it a try! The instructions tell you to dip a cotton swab into the pink sediment on the bottom (do not shake the bottle first). Then you dab the swab onto any blemishes and let dry overnight. I love that this product sits on your face throughout the night. I woke up the next morning with only half the product still on my face from my restless sleeping, so I cleaned my face with my Micellar Water. I could tell that my new irritations weren’t as red or raised as they were the day before! I recommend this product for its results and the simple application.
Overall, I really enjoyed trying out this line of products! Each product left my skin feeling healthier than it did before. I wanted to try out a new skin care routine that didn’t involve using different brands to do different things. With Mario Badescu, I can get it all in one box!
Have you tried Mario Badescu? If so, what’s your favorite product?
