Mario Badescu’s 50th Anniversary Edition // Skin Care Review

The other day I took a trip to Ulta with my friend and I stumbled upon Mario Badescu’s section. I didn’t know much about his products except that people have been raving about what they use in their everyday skin care regime. I found the “50th Anniversary Edition” kit that contains all the well-known skin care essentials. I never looked into the prices of Mario Badescu’s products, but to my surprise, they’re pretty affordable! Since it contained five products for $38, I purchased one and tested it out that night. Another plus for this brand is that they do not test on animals! Here’s what I thought about the kit.

The kit contains the Enzyme Cleansing Gel, Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater, Drying Lotion, Silver Powder, and the Flower & Tonic Mask.

First Step : Enzyme Cleansing Gel

I had a full face of makeup on so I wanted to test out how well this face cleanser worked on removing my makeup. I took a bit of product in my hand and massaged it all over my damp face. After I washed it off, I took a cotton round and brushed it across my skin to see if there was any excess makeup, and to my surprise, there was none! This cleansing gel passed the test 🙂 It is a non-foaming cleanser but it left my skin feeling hydrated and clean!

Step Two : Silver Powder

Next I tried the powder that unclogs pores and prevent blackheads. The instructions tell you to dip a damp cotton ball into the powder and press it onto your nose/any other congested part on your face. I suggest you do this over the sink because there can be some fallout from the cotton ball. I wasn’t sure if I was using too much, so I just let it sit for the required 10 minutes, and then used my Garnier Micellar Water to gently wipe it off. I could never fully clear my skin of blackheads, but after one use of this powder, I could definitely see a decrease in blackheads and pore size! I highly recommend this product!

Step Three : Flower & Tonic Mask

This mask was incredibly soothing! I applied a thin layer on to my face and after a few minutes it dried and tightened. It smelled like flowers and had a silky texture. When the mask dried out, it really felt like it was doing its job. I loved that this mask is meant to calm redness and purify the skin, which was proved to be true. My skin was not irritated by this mask, which is a huge plus.

Step Four : Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater

After I took off the mask, I pat my skin dry and let it sit for a few minutes. Then I went in with the spray to give my skin the final touches. The spray leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed. The scent is lovely and not too overpowering. I can’t wait to try it on my hair (as suggested on the bottle) or during the winter when my skin starts to become more dry. Updates to come.

Step Five : Drying Lotion

After a few hours hanging out with friends, I put on the Drying Lotion. I’ve heard a lot of awesome things about this product so I was excited to give it a try! The instructions tell you to dip a cotton swab into the pink sediment on the bottom (do not shake the bottle first). Then you dab the swab onto any blemishes and let dry overnight. I love that this product sits on your face throughout the night. I woke up the next morning with only half the product still on my face from my restless sleeping, so I cleaned my face with my Micellar Water. I could tell that my new irritations weren’t as red or raised as they were the day before! I recommend this product for its results and the simple application.

Overall, I really enjoyed trying out this line of products! Each product left my skin feeling healthier than it did before. I wanted to try out a new skin care routine that didn’t involve using different brands to do different things. With Mario Badescu, I can get it all in one box!

Have you tried Mario Badescu? If so, what’s your favorite product?

Setting Goals & Sticking To Them!

This summer flew by and senior year is only a few weeks away! As I spend more and more time thinking about how exciting and sentimental this next year will be, I’ve been trying to set goals for myself. I want to make sure I create a positive atmosphere for myself and everyone I spend my time with!

I’ve worked all summer in order to save money for the school year. Since I don’t work when I’m at school, the money I made this summer is essential for the school year. I pay for most of my own things at college; books, meals, and nights out. This year I need to be smart with how I spend! I need to start taking the bus more when I go out on the weekends instead of always taking a Uber. There are times when I can treat myself, but I have to be aware of how often I do that. It’s all about keep track of how much I spend and what I’m spending it on.

Home cooked meals are way more fun and healthy than getting takeout. There’s no doubt that I’ll get Chilis takeout every once in a while, but for my health and my wallet, I need to start cooking my own meals. Cooking can be entertaining, especially when my roommates and I pick a recipe and cook it together! It’s a great way to spend the night and hangout. Getting takeout often goes hand in hand with how I spend my money. I need to strategize and utilize what I get from the grocery store!

Mental & Physical Health

This year is about my future and how I spend my time in the present. It’s my senior year and I need to make the most of it. Taking care of myself is essential to having a healthy and positive year. I’ve been learning so much about myself this summer and I’m excited to see what else I learn this year. I’m not a huge fan of the gym, but I’ve discovered other ways I can keep my body healthy and feeling energized. With my mental health, I have to remind myself that this is my life and no-one knows me better than I do. I can’t let judgment or disappointment hold me back from doing what I want.

During the summer, work, friends, family, the blog, have consumed most of my hours every day. I’m not complaining, but it has been hard for me to have downtime to write and create things I’m proud of on my blog. If I’m not at work, I’m spending time with friends/family. I find time to brainstorm and create new ideas at night after work or in the morning before activities with friends, but it has not been enough to take my blog to where I want it. This coming school year is where I will find my greatest inspiration. I will have more time to myself to start the series of posts I’ve wanted to write! I get to continue to share with my readers all the awesome things my friends and I are doing and how the school year is going. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the blog 🙂

This is a huge part of my goals this school year. With everything else going on, my friends are probably the biggest component to my life at school! It’s all about the balance of taking care of myself while also making time for my lovely friends. It’s really easy for me to just separate myself from plans and spend time alone, but I don’t want to do that this year. I want to go out and have fun, while also spending one on one time with my closest friends. These people support everything I do and I aim to show how much I support them. I am beyond excited to start this year with my favorite people by my side! It’s going to be a year to remember.

Even though it is my last year, I have a lot to do for school. When I changed my major from Mathematics to Environmental Conservation sophomore year, I had to fit the new major’s classes into just my junior and senior year. I also have to take a few more classes to receive my minor in Math! It’s a full schedule but I’m so glad I made this change. I have great motivation to push myself and finish my final year strong. I can’t wait to update the blog on how my classes are going!

Everything I mentioned in this post lead up to creating a better and more positive future for myself. The only way I can do this successfully is by creating a comfortable balance. Certain parts of my life get neglected when I spend too much time on something else, which could later negatively impact my future. It can be a challenge, but it’s one that I’m ready to face! This is a new year that will be full of learning and self-discovery.

Have you set any goals for yourself this year?

My Night Out Cost More Than My Outfit! // My First Collab

She is a very creative blogger and also someone who loves to thrift. I knew she and I had to work on a post together!

Stressed? Here’s What To Do

The days where I’m not feeling myself have been consuming me the past month. I always try to stay focused on the positive, but sometimes I get easily overwhelmed. The stress can be caused by the smallest thing, which can be the most frustrating part. It can be triggered when I think about money, school, work, or anything in between. The stress doesn’t last all day, but it’s exhausting. During moments like these, I tend to stay in my own personal bubble to prevent involving others into my personal stress. It really bothers me when I get this way because that’s not how I truly feel. I would never want to project my stress onto other people. It has taken a lot of practice (and I’m still learning) to find ways to control my stress. This week, I wanted to share a few tips that I’ve been trying to use to ease my stress.
